The GhostBreakers & Historic Hotel Bethlehem's Paranormal Weekend.

About
The GhostBreakers & Historic Hotel Bethlehem's Paranormal Weekend.

This Paranormal event is for the Enthusiast regardless of what level of expertise you may have. This is not a Halloween or hokey event but encompasses the history and stories surrounding one of Americas official Historic Hotels.

The GhostBreakers Hotel Bethlehem Event is Scheduled for the weekend of April 12th 2013. It will run from check-in on Friday through brunch on Sunday. There will be presentations, stories, ghost hunts, tours, and more.
Last Spring we had around 100 people attend and all of the comment cards were flatteringly positive. They had people who had personal experiences from feelings to seeing the floors move. We even had people that live right in town that came just for the presentations who said they will be staying at the hotel for the next event this Spring.

I will add the itinerary and more information as it becomes available and update the information as things are added too.

So you say; “What makes this hotel so special and why would I want to attend a ghost hunt there?” Well here is a very short bio on the hotel property and it’s past.
In 1741 when there was nothing but wilderness and Indians in the area a small house was built on the spot where the hotel now stands. In this house a meeting was held and on Christmas Eve in 1741 the Moravian’s patron, Count Zinzendorf and other early settlers named the city of Bethlehem. The house remained and became a store and finally in 1794 a hotel called the Eagle Hotel (when George Washington was President).
Then on April 6, 1866, a little girl was born to a humble family in Rm #24 at the Eagle Hotel. She was named Mary Augusta Yohe and was a lively and vivacious little girl that loved to play the piano in the lobby. Some say she still does. Her Grandfather, Caleb Yohe a Moravian loved by all, owned and operated the Eagle Hotel.

Mary A. Yohe grew up to be a famous actress (May Yohe) and married Lord Henry Francis Hope and was the first American to wear the famous Hope Diamond. So for over 250 years there has been some sort of dwelling where people lived on this exact spot.

As the years past and the Eagle fell into poor condition the property was purchased by Bethlehem Steel and in 1922 the present Hotel was built by the company for guests of Bethlehem Steel. Since then it has housed everything from a Speak Easy to a secret Army unit that was wiped out during WWII and a guest list ranging from celebrities and Presidents to the Dalai Lama himself, who left his Tea Pot behind which seems to move around on its own. You can see some of the guests here (http://www.hotelbethlehem.com/former_guests.php )and most all of them on the walls of the Tap Room when you visit.

The hotel also has a certain room that seems to be particularly active. So much so that they have admiringly named it the “Room with a Boo” and is available year round for guests to try and have their own experiences.
There are too many stories to mention here. If you attend you will hear many more and maybe, just maybe experience one of your own.

Lastly some clarification. This is the Hotel's event not the GhostBreakers. We make no money on this as we don't charge for investigations. However, we do get something we feel is invaluable. We were called by the hotel a year ago to look into the stories surrounding the hotel. They asked us if we would be willing to do presentations and take people on ghost hunts. In return we could have a free hand and total access to conduct our examinations over several months. Well, they were pleased with the last event and invited us to make it an annual event. In turn we get a paranormal Investigators Dream. We get the same opportunities to do examinations over the year prior to the event. Since experiences don't happen on queue, to be able to return, check our findings against prior findings for validation over an extended period that will (hopefully) last many years is more than we could have wished for. We have an open invitation to conduct our exams and can actually return on the same days and times of reported incidents instead of hoping to catch something randomly. The hotel has been very kind, helpful and accommodating to our needs and we hope to make this a long standing relationship for our personal work and the entertainment of the people attending.

There is an interesting tid-bit or coincidence with all this...

May Yohe who was born in the hotel, wore the Hope Diamond and toured Europe & America as a famous actress and singer co-wrote a movie series called The Hope Diamond Mystery. She also played herself in the silent movie series. She co-wrote it with a gentleman named Charles W. Goddard.

Coincidentally Charles W. Goddard had written a book & play some years earlier.
The name of the book and play was, The GhostBreakers!!!!
Obviously when I found this out there was no way I could turn down this opportunity.

I still wonder if this opportunity is coincidence or Kismet????
